Maker Hubs for Saxony
Location: Rural areas in Saxony, including Olbernhau, Ehrenfriedersdorf, and Adorf/Vogtland
Target groups: SMEs, students, and rural communities.
Chemnitz Region (DED4)Maker Hubs are modular creative spaces set up in rural Saxony to promote innovation and skill development. Equipped with tools like 3D printers, CNC machines, and electronics stations, they serve as local innovation centers.
Local makerspaces collaborate with SMEs and educational institutions to provide workshops on interdisciplinary collaboration, self-organization, and sustainability-focused problem-solving.
These hubs improve employability and entrepreneurial skills, helping rural participants address real-world challenges while building teamwork and adaptability.
This initiative is a best practice example because it bridges urban-rural skill gaps by offering access to advanced technologies and training in underserved areas, fostering innovation and community growth.
