Podbeskidzki Turniej Debat Oksfordzkich (Podbeskidzie Oxford Debate Tournament)
Location: Żywiec and Bielsko Counties, Poland
Target groups: Secondary school students (lower and upper secondary) from the Żywiec and Bielsko counties.
Silesia (PL22)Podbeskidzki Turniej Debat Oksfordzkich (Podbeskidzie Oxford Debate Tournament) is an initiative organized by the Fundacja Rozwoju Żywiecczyzny (Foundation for the Development of the Żywiec Region), promoting Oxford-style debates as a tool for fostering high-quality, substantive discussions conducted with respect for the culture of dialogue. Since 2016, the tournament has been organized annually for schools from the Żywiec and Bielsko counties, taking place between March and April.
Participation in the debates develops critical soft skills such as critical thinking, respect for opposing viewpoints, argumentation based on reliable sources, and public speaking. By encouraging participants to seek common ground and explore new solutions, the tournament strengthens interpersonal competencies and provides young people with a platform to engage publicly in meaningful discussions.
